SED's Gemini product line supports full-featured DVB-S, DVB-2 and Broadcom Turbo compliant satellite modulators. Gemini models are available that support all three modes or any subset of these modes. For DVB-S2, Gemini supports CCM and VCM /ACM and all constellations from QPSK to 32APSK, at signal rates up to 45 Mbaud. Multiple streams for VCM/ACM applications can be fed into the modulator via 2 DVB-ASI input ports or the 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports, standard on every unit.
All Gemini models include IF and L-band outputs as well as input and output signal monitoring ports. The convenient front LCD and rear panel Ethernet ports provide easy access to the user interface using any standard web browser. An SNMP-based monitor and control interface is provided for connection to external management systems.
The modulator design is firmware based and is very flexible in accommodating additional modulation, encoding or other requirements.
The following symbol and data rate calculators are included in the user interface of the Gemini and are presented here for convenience to help determine the maximum symbol rate required for a given data rate or to determine how much data can be transmitted using a given symbol rate.
